Just Betty

When I am happy with what I am eating, my tail(bone) wiggles!
I am not a food critique, I believe that taste in food is highly subjective, and I just want to share mine. Ü

Harumi Sushi & Tofu - Newark, CA (USA)

My cousin brought us to Harumi Sushi & Tofu after touring SF.

On one side..

And on the other.

This was the my cousin's favorite here:

Step 1:
Set it up.

Step 2:
Place roll.

Step 3:
Light it on fire.

This is what you get.
ღ Flaming Dragon $13.95

deep fried shrimp, snow crab, spicy tuna, avocado, snapper,
yellow tail, salmon, tobiko with fire

Other things we tried were..
Monkey Brain $6.95
deep fried spicy tuna stuffed mushrooms

Lion King $10.95
snow crab, avocado / salmon baked

Combination Soft Tofu $9.95
Tofu boiled with beef, shrimp and clam

And my niece just wanted something simple.
Shrimp Tempura

The most interesting part of this dinner was..
There was this Korean guy who makes the rolls, who was also the owner I think,
was so drunk going around the customers toasting some sake
and making them dance Gangnam style.

Vic Sushi - Philadelphia, PA (USA)

Pete brought Arlene and I to Vic Sushi Bar on February 10, 2014 for dinner.

He said it's small but it's the best.

It was small.

And sushis are always the best for me. Ü

We started with this.
 Seaweed Salad $3.00
It's gooey and yummy like the jellyfish appetizers in chinese restos.

 Pete ordered almost everything..
 ..on the menu.

A 3 roll special for $10.98
1) (what's with all the greens in this sushi ???)

2) California Roll
crab stick, avocado & cucumber

and
3) Shrimp Tempura Roll

 Philadelphia Roll $4.75
Salmon, cucumber and cream cheese

Spider Roll $8.95
Soft-shell crab, avocado, cucumber and masago

 Romantic Roll $12.95
Soft-shell crab mixed with spicy sauce, topped with kani salad, masago and scallions

And one that was part of their specials..
ღ Long Island $13.95
Spicy crunch white tuna topped with eel and avocado

Vic Sushi's sushis were all really good.
This one with the white tuna is even better.
And of course, raw salmon is the best.

The 5th Taste, San Juan

Puti and I went to The 5th Taste on November 16, 2013.

It's above Tama Yaki.

And nobody else was there at 7pm.

But you can order food from this place when you're at Tama Yaki.

Our seat.

And our orders.
We had the pumpkin soup split into 2.

Roasted Kabocha Soup P110

Puti liked this pumpkin soup, it wasn't bad but of course,
I still like Cibo's the best.

We also had sushi.
Tempura Roll P250

[back view]
This wasn't too tasty but I liked this better than the pizza we ordered.

Kani Salad Pizza P285

For me this wasn't worth the price
because it's just shredded carrots and crab stick strips.

Nevertheless, Puti finished this off. Ü

Marufuku Japanese Restaurant, Pasig Ω

Above photo taken from Marufuku's Facebook page.

Darling and I tried Marufuku on April 26, 2013

This is sort of a hidden place that you might pass by when you go to UA&P area

"Hidden place" type gives me the impression that they have the best tasting food.
 Let's see.

Appetizer.
erm..

I was still hung up on Wrong Ramen's Tonkotsu
so I suggested we order one.

Unfortunately, I remembered the wrong name. =(
Tantanmen Soba P450

And of course, salmon is a must.
Spicy Salmon Maki P300
Had better but not that bad.

Probably because I expected this "hidden place" would serve oh-so good food
that's why my tail didn't wiggle.

Taste lies in the mouth of the beholder.

Disclaimer: I don't think that this establishment serves bad food,
their dishes just did not make my tail wiggle.

We had a quick dinner at Yukinohana in Timog last July 29, 2012.

I don't know what these are called.

Here are those I do know are called..
ღ Unagidon P350
Look at all that eel! Mmm..

Salmon Salad P490
The price is too expensive for this.
